Homework for Monday, 9/22
The songs of Eru and Melkor.
We know from the reading that Tolkien describes the song of Eru as something that is beautiful and harmonious - something of accord. Melkor’s song is different. It does not match Eru’s tune and results in discord and confusion. For Monday’s (9/22) assignment, you are to create the songs of Eru and Melkor. These songs do not need to be extremely lengthy, but should approximate 14 lines each (think how 14 lines would appear if you looked up the lyrics to a song).
In writing the lyrics to the song, you are also to find music that you believe pairs best with the songs of Eru and Melkor. Search online for instrumental songs that you believe best connect back to the characters and to the lyrics that you have written. Make sure to include a link to these songs. Spend one paragraph explaining why you chose the instrumental music you did and how you came to develop your lyrics.
Post the completed assignment to your blog and upload your assignment to Brightspace in a word doc or pdf.
If you are struggling to find some instrumental music, here are some samples. You are free to use these if needed.
