Homework for Monday 9/29

There have been so many events unfolding throughout The Silmarillion so far. This text can feel overwhelming at times, but you have all been doing a fantastic job navigating it.  For this blog, let's circle back to the character's you've been assigned. Choose one core moment from anywhere between chapters 17 - 22 to comment on. Use the voice of your character to explore their role further in what they are thinking and feeling (and how they may be behaving in this moment).  Consider the following questions as prompts to get you started:
  • What fears do they have?
  • Where do they feel confident?
  • Do they feel hopeless at this point?
  • What comes next for them?

It's important to note, that some of your characters have died at this point in the text. If this is the case, instead, focus on your characters last days. Consider what they have accomplished and are proud or ashamed of. Do they wish things would have gone differently? Or do they believe that their actions benefitted whatever side they were on?

Feel free to use quotes from the text and consult external sources if you need some assistance in interpreting portions of the text. You can also include images if this will help in your blog response.

Happy writing!
