Homework for Wednesday 10/8

"The Jury's Out"

This week we played a game called “The Jury’s Out” where you were broken into teams: the prosecution, defense, and judges/jury. We debated the moral responsibility of Feanor and his sons’ binding oath. Our question was: How much responsibility do/should they bear for the Doom of Mandos/Doom of the Noldor? 

For your blog post, respond to the outcome of this game. First, consider the role you were assigned and how this shaped or challenged your view of these characters. Then consider the stance of your group. For those of you in the prosecution and defense, do you agree with the jury’s decision? Why or why not? 

For the judges/jury, how did you reach your own conclusion of guilty, not guilty, or tragic, but doomed? Were there any differences of opinions you had to work through before coming to this conclusion?
